On October 31,2010, a fundraising event will take place in honor of Lauren Fitzgerald, a 20 year old Wyomissing resident that died on July 18, 2005 after a 14 month battle with a brain tumor. Lauren was born on Halloween, 1984, so we organized the fundraiser, called “Fitzy’s Run,” to coincide with what would be her 25th birthday.
The purpose of this event is to raise money for The American Brain Tumor Association, a non-profit, highly rated charitable organization that funds research on causes and cures for brain tumors and the Lauren Fitzgerald Memorial Scholarship Fund, which benefits Berks County high school seniors that have faced (or continue to face) adverse circumstances or challenges in their lives. Both funds are managed by the Berks County Community Foundation.
